MP monitors GP appointment criteria
- MP website set up to monitor the performance of GP's in meeting the governments 48 hour appointment criteria.
A Conservative MP has set up a website for people to report problems obtaining appointments with their GPs within the 48-hour national target. Mr Grant Shapps, MP for Welwyn Hatfield, believes that the target is not complied with as widely as the government suggest.
The MP has devised a website to record information from patients confirming whether they are having problems in obtaining an appointment within the 2 day period allowed.
The delays can be extremely troublesome for many patients and this may lead to complaints for medical negligence against the GPs concerned.
